Seattle is finally getting a PWHL team! On Wednesday, April 30th, at around 5:00 AM PST, it was announced that the PWHL is coming to Seattle. This means that there will now be 8 teams for the 2025-26 season, with the Original 6 (Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa, Boston, New York, and Minnesota), and now the addition of a Vancouver and Seattle team.
During the PWHL takeover tour there were 12,608 fans that showed up to watch the Montreal Victoire and Boston Fleet battle it out in Climate Pledge Arena. There has been lots of love and support for women’s hockey within this city, as well as women sports in general. From the Seattle Kraken also hired Jessica Campbell for the 2024-25 NHL season as assistant coach, marking her the first woman to be coaching on the bench within the regular season, to having very successful teams such as the Seattle Reign FC and the Seattle Storm, our city is ready.
The color scheme that has been released with the PWHL Seattle announcement was cream and emerald green, a color that has been seen before and many times within Seattle sports. From football, baseball, basketball, soccer, and even hockey, Seattle has always been repping green and blue!
